Oshima Trench Coat

SHIRO

White Oshima

Shiro-Oshima is characterized by the use of white mud containing a large amount of kaolin, which is also used to form white porcelain, and other dyes to dye silk threads.

The platinum-like luster and the intricate rubbed patterns unique to Oshima silk show the handiwork in pursuit of beauty.

By selecting old handmade fabrics with a one-color kasuri pattern as much as possible, we aimed to create a high-quality piece that allows the wearer to appreciate the noble kasuri pattern that is inherent to Shiro-Oshima.

The white Oshima we seek is especially rare, so we dare to incorporate vintage markings into our tailoring.

AITTA believes that it is also a great appeal to feel the life and breath of the people of the era in which the cloth was made.

Five different kimono fabrics from different periods are used.

In addition to antique French buttons, all of which are different, the back flap is decorated with a “back guard”.

Glass buttons from the Meiji period are decorated with “eggshells” by Rinko Oikawa, a lacquer artist living in Sendai City.
